2023 marks our 125th anniversary producing small-lot mountain wines from our home on Howell Mountain. To celebrate this historic milestone, we opened our cellar to showcase the wines and the stories that represent a distinct piece of history.

Our December release marks the conclusion of our year-long celebration of our 125th anniversary and winemaker Chris Carpenter has chosen a major wine for the grand finale. The vintage of our final library release commemorates our Winemaker Chris Carpenter’s first harvest at La Jota Vineyard Co. And while 2005 was known as being cooler vintage, he describes our Heritage Release as "the highest expression of what our La Jota Estate Vineyard has to offer; it is the best of the best."
This Cabernet Sauvignon was grown in Meadow Block #5 with two clones and six different rootstocks, contributing an extraordinary complexity of flavor. With almost 20 years of age, this wine is now in its prime and speaks volumes about the specialness of its birthplace. Rich notes of huckleberry, spice, and mocha entwine with indelible Howell Mountain minerality.
In short, this exclusive library release has all of the Howell Mountain hallmarks and is the perfect end to an amazing year of revisiting some of our favorite vintages.
